The Thicket
2008
Beneath the surface of the scarred Haitian earth is a tangled web of thorns and vines. At the foot of the Northern hills, these treacherous barbs grow wild and reach out to snatch anyone who dares pass by.

This undergrowth is a historic gateway protecting the new villages forged by the slave resistance from the onslaught of imperialist oppressors. To its credit, this force of nature held back all the armies of Europe including the efforts of Napoleon. It remains to this day, marking a boundary beyond which the land is scarcely tread and of which very little is known.
