KENJJI is an award-winning illustrator, comic creator and caricaturist whose works have been featured in the NY Times, the Orlando Weekly, the Japan Times and other publications. Commissioned clients include Absolut Vodka, Stryker Corporation, the Detroit Lions, Greektown Casino, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Henry Ford Hospital and the Wayans Bros.

While based in Detroit, Kenjji first gained local and international acclaim for his Witchdoctor comic series, self-published under Griot Comics which he founded with his wife. He soon began working throughout Detroit's arts and entertainment community, appearing at festivals, teaching art classes, doing gallery shows and album covers for the city's hip-hop and electronic artists.

In 1999, Kenjji started doing caricatures and loved it! He regularly performs at family reunions, private parties, corporate events and birthday parties. He's also created several large-scale caricatures, commissioned by clients as retirement or holiday gifts.

Kenjji has been awarded grants from both the Xeric and Creative Capital Foundations. He also held a 5-year faculty position at the College for Creative Studies' Continuing Education Department, teaching Cartooning & Caricature Art.

Exhibitions include Psionic Distortion (Tokyo), Plum Blossoms Gallery (NYC), The Detroit Historical Museum and the Grosse Pointe Artists Association. Magazine cover stories and artist profiles include Straight No Chaser (UK), XLR8R (San Francisco), Metrotimes (Detroit) and African-American Family Magazine (Detroit).

Kenjji, Kito, their daughter Kenya and their cats Kody & Kemi live in Kalamazoo, MI.
